I was contacted by Katie & Jarrod during quarantine to help them document their small, self-uniting ceremony. I was definitely interested in their day as this seems to be the current and new norm for getting married in spring and summer, thus far for 2020. I am all for this beautiful, intimate and romantic style of getting married. Garden weddings as we call them, are my new jam! I too, have been impacted by Covid for our day, but am so pumped for it ( I digress)
Their wedding day fell on 6/20/2020 and it was a perfect warm day, filled with sunny skies and warm weather. Couldn’t have asked for a better day as, like usual, the forecast predicted a day of storms. I arrived to gorgeous decor setup in their entry way, designed and provided by the talented Devoted to You Events.
Once I entered the home, I was greeted by the guests mingling in the kitchen and Katie finishing up a few last to do’s before heading out for her vows. I was able to grab a few photos of the amazing dinner setup, also done by devoted to you. It was absolutely perfect! (seriously, everyone should do this)
The ceremony began by their daughters, who were also the flower girls, creating a path of flowers for everyone to walk to the beautifully decorated tree branch, that also stood as their arch for their vows. They began by reading their vows to each other and their children, followed by a ceremonial story told by their friend. They finished by exchanging rings and sealing it with a kiss — It was so romantic!
Once they finished their vows, we gathered everyone around for photos and then headed into their neighbors garden for a quick one-on-one with the newlyweds. They had such great chemistry together and were so easy to photograph. I loved how well they worked the camera and let their love shine through.
Once we finished up their photos, we headed back for more decor photos and got them ready for dinner and mingling. It was a super easy and laid back event and I couldn’t be happier for them and the way they chose to share their love with their closest loved ones. I wish them all the best and can’t wait for part II of their family photos come August.
- 1. What was the venue, in what town and what was the couple’s name?
Katie & Jarrod – At their home
- 2. How did the couple meet?
Dating site
- 3. How did the groom propose?
Groom surprised bride with a custom ring designed by Skelton Jewelry, a local Pittsburgh based jewelry. He coordinated with the shop owner to post a picture of the completed engagement ring on social media, and tag the bride as a surprise. The bride is a communications director and social media planner, so she spends a lot of time on social media and follows many accounts. When the post was made at the designated time, the groom had pulled out the ring and asked the bride to marry her – the rest is history. This was done in our private suite during a get-a-way in Las Vegas.
